Terms of Service

1. Not financial, tax, or legal advice

Retireez provides educational, illustrative projections based on the information you provide and general assumptions about Canadian retirement rules (CPP, OAS, RRSP/RRIF, TFSA, taxation, and related program parameters). Outputs — including Monte Carlo simulations, probability-of-success scores, withdrawal ladders, and optimization suggestions — are estimates only, are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete, and do not constitute financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Government program rules, tax rates, and your personal circumstances can and do change. You should consult a qualified, licensed financial advisor, accountant, or lawyer before making retirement, investment, or tax decisions. You are solely responsible for decisions you make using the Service.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account, whether you sign up with an email and password or through a third-party provider such as Google. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. Notify us promptly at hello@retireez.io if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Retireez offers a free Basic tier and a paid Retireez Pro subscription (currently CAD $150/year), billed and processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Prices are subject to change on notice before your next renewal.

Cancellations and refunds: You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals, but your Pro access continues until the end of your current paid billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service (including automated scraping or bulk querying beyond normal use).
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying models, algorithms, or source code of the Service, except as permitted by law.
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person.
• Use the Service to build a competing product using data or outputs obtained from it.

5. AI features

Optional AI-powered features (such as plan summaries and the AI Coach) are generated by a third-party large language model provider based on the information in your plan and your prompts. AI-generated content may be incomplete, generic, or inaccurate, and is provided for informational purposes only. It is not financial, tax, or legal advice and should be independently verified before you rely on it.

6. Your data

You retain ownership of the financial and personal information you input into Retireez. You grant us a limited license to use it solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information you provide — outputs are only as reliable as the inputs.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, calculation methodology, and content (excluding data you provide), is owned by Retireez or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial retirement planning purposes, subject to these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that projections will reflect your actual future financial outcomes.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Retireez and its owner, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or financial opportunity, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) CAD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or where necessary to comply with law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 1, 6–9, and 11) will survive.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
